User Interface (UI) Designer
Study Program Courses
This course is designed to equip students with the fundamental skills and knowledge to become proficient UI designers. The curriculum covers essential design principles, tools, and techniques used in crafting visually appealing, user-friendly, and responsive interfaces for websites and mobile applications. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard design software and develop a strong understanding of user-centered design approaches.

- Understanding visual hierarchy and balance.

- Mastering design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
- Creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.

User-Centered Design:
- User research and persona development.
- User experience (UX) fundamentals in UI design.

Responsive Design:
- Designing for multiple devices (mobile, tablet, desktop).
- Introduction to grid systems and fluid layouts.

Interaction Design:
- Designing intuitive navigation and interaction flows.
- Micro-interactions and animations in UI design.

Design Systems & Patterns:
- Establishing consistent design systems.
- Understanding reusable components and UI patterns.

Collaboration & Feedback:
- Working with developers and cross-functional teams.
- Implementing feedback loops to refine designs.
Assessment & Project Types:

Individual Assignments:
- Hands-on projects focusing on real-world UI design problems.
- Software-based tasks to master tools and techniques.

Group Projects:
- Collaborative projects simulating team-based UI design work.
- Developing a full design system for a web or mobile app.

Portfolio Development:
- Building a professional design portfolio showcasing completed UI projects.
- Regular peer reviews and iterative improvements based on feedback.

Final Capstone Project:
- A comprehensive UI design project involving research, wireframing, prototyping, and final design execution for a real-world application.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Design visually engaging, functional, and user-friendly interfaces across different devices.
- Utilize industry-standard tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Apply design principles such as color theory, typography, and layout in crafting cohesive interfaces.
- Conduct user research to create personas and inform design decisions.
- Implement responsive design techniques to ensure seamless experiences across devices.
- Develop design systems that enhance UI consistency and usability.
- Collaborate effectively with developers and other stakeholders in the design process.
- Present and critique UI designs through feedback loops, leading to iterative improvements.
Regular & Intensive Learning Option
- Class Schedule:
Morning Students – Monday to Thursday, 09:00 am – 03:00 pm
Afternoon Students – Monday to Thursday, 03:30 pm – 08:00 pm - Teaching Method: Online & Offline / Online only (eg. Google meet video call)
- Course Duration: 6 sessions (15 months)
- Session Length: 1 session = 3 months
- DWTA Qualification: Academic Diploma
- CTVET’s National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF): Higher National Diploma
- Tuition & Guidance Fees:
- Ghc 2600 per session or
- Ghc 900 per month
Slow-Paced & Relaxed Learning Option
- Class Schedule:
Weekend Evening Students – Friday to Sunday, 06:00 pm – 08:00 pm - Teaching Method: Online & Offline / Online only (eg. Google meet video call)
- Course Duration: 7 sessions (21 months)
- Session Length: 1 session = 3 months
